To our Members and Partners,

February is Black History Month, and it’s the time of year when we celebrate the history, achievements, and influence of Black Americans. It is also an opportunity for brands to take part in important cultural moments with thoughtful campaigns that spotlight the products and services from Black-owned businesses that are – or should be – carried or made available all year long. It’s when brands focus on building more meaningful relationships with the people behind the products that everyone wins.

The African-American Chamber of Commerce exists to help corporations think differently about the diversity in their procurement process as well as their brand strategy and marketing campaigns, beyond Black History Month. All too often we watch brands produce and promote Black History Month campaigns that don’t deliver on what Black-owned businesses truly need, and that’s access to the opportunities that help them grow and scale their businesses.

As we kick off the Chamber’s 30th year of serving its members, it is my pleasure to continue to serve as President of the organization for the coming year and lead efforts to help close the 228-year racial wealth gap.

For the next 28 days, we’re not only reflecting on the past, but we are also looking and planning for the coming year. In fact, just in this past month, we are proud to be able to continue, expand and launch critical programs that focus on the economic empowerment of our members such as:

  • AACC Coaching to Capital

In January, the Coaching to Capital program announced its second cohort of three members who will receive hands-on financial training, mentor coaches, and a banker/advisor to help them participate in the commercial lending market. The program reinforces the connection between access to capital and business growth. Join me in celebrating Hi-Touch Enterprises, Yes Dear Multi-Purpose Improvement Specialists and Pedi Licious Foods
